Falmouth shuts out Bonny Eagle 4-0 for their second win of the season

Dom Tracy pitched a complete game shut out to lead the Yachtsmen over the Scots. Tracy gave up four hits and had six strikeouts in seven innings.

In the top of the first, Sam Kidder doubled and then scored on a Brady Coyne ground out.

Falmouth got 2 more runs in the second. Ben Keller reached on an error and scored on a Peter McCluskey ground out. Later in the inning Eban Daniels scored on Kidder’s second hit of the day to give Falmouth a 3-0 lead after 2 innings.

The Yachtsmen closed out the scoring in the third when Bennett Smith walked, stole second and moved to third on a passed ball. He came in to score on a Keller ground out.

The Yachtsmen’s solid defense along with Tracy’s strong pitching kept the Scots in check for most of the game. The Scots did manage to get 2 runners on in the fourth inning, but Tracy shut them down to keep the shut-out in tact.

Kidder went 2 for 3 with an RBI double. Jacob Humphrey had two hits for Bonny Eagle. Tracy earned his first win of the season. Reagan Thomas took the loss for the Scots.

Falmouth Wins the Season Opener Over Westbrook 4-1

Falmouth’s Bennet Smith pitched a complete game 3 hitter as Falmouth beat Westbrook in the first game of the season for both teams. Smith struck out five and walked only one in 7 innings of work.

Falmouth got on the board in the bottom of the second when Ben Keller scored on a Pete McCluskey single. Later in that inning, Smith scored on a wild pitch to make it 2-0 for the Yachtsmen.

Falmouth got 2 more runs in the third inning. Patrick Gill had a two-out RBI single and later scored on a wild pitch.

Smith kept the Blue Blazes in check until the fourth inning when they were able to string together 2 hits and cut the lead to 4-1.

Smith shut down Westbrook the rest of the way to earn the victory. Eugley took the loss for Westbrook

Gus Ford, Patrick Gill, and Pete McCluskey each had 2 hits for the Yachtsmen.

Sam Kidder Signs National Letter Of Intent

On November 12, senior Sam Kidder signed his National Letter Of Intent to continue his baseball and academic career at Stonehill College.

Batting Cages Being Built at the FHS Varsity Field

Falmouth High School baseball boosters is funding the construction of a new 3 tunnel batting cage at the FHS varsity baseball field.

The cages will be located directly behind the home team dug out and will consist of 3 – 50 foot enclosed hitting tunnels and will provide for several hitting T stations.

Coach Mike D’Andrea and Scott Kidder are overseeing the construction. The foundation was completed in the spring.

In early October the 8 6×6 posts that will support netting was installed. Special “thank you” to Far Horizon Property Maintenance for donating their equipment and services.

All 8 poles installed. Ready for the turf to be installed.

The initial installation of the turf is complete.

The cages will be complete for 2021 spring training.

The batting cages are a top priority for in-coming coach Mike D’Andrea. He emphasized that it is a necessary component to allow the players to get the swing reps they otherwise would not get. The boosters are anticipating that this will be a cornerstone for the baseball program for years to come.
